The average life expectancy for a hemophiliac in the 1980s was approximately 30 years, but now we have been able to bring that number up to around 65 years.

Hello, my name is Tarik Akyuz and I created this website. This website was designed to provide you, the viewer, with the resources you need to understand what hemophilia is.

Science

Hemophilia is a disease with three types. The types of hemophilia are differentiated by which clotting factor is missing or insufficient. Hemophilia A and B are both caused by point mutations on the X chromosomes and are characterized by a defect in factor XIII and IX respectively. 

Hemophilia

A medical condition in which the ability of the blood to clot is severely reduced, causing the sufferer to bleed severely from even a slight injury.
